Here is a list of granting agencies or grant resources. These will be examined more systematically later, but you should take a look through them just to see the types of things involved and offered. This is by NO means a comprehensive list. It does give you a start though. :-)

  1. I know a couple of teachers who tried for the dollar general grant this past year. I haven't heard back if they received the grant but I know they plan on using the money to buy MP3 players for all the classrooms in our building for listening centers.

  2. A few of our teachers received a Target grant a two years ago. They received money for a field trip (especially important because ALL middle school and high school field trips no longer exist) and 30 digital cameras to use on the field trip.

  3. I just had a friend write me on facebook and she said that she applied for a scholastic book grant last year and received 900 dollars in free books! She said it was really easy to apply for. I tried searching the website but only found larger scale grants for large organizations or for a school. Here is the website, http://www.scholastic.com/aboutscholastic/communitybookgrants.htm
But I plan to keep looking on the website to see if they are going to offer something more closer to when school starts.

  4. It may not be showing because they have just granted. Some foundations do that.

  5. I really like the Pay it forward grant. We have a community service class offered for seniors. I think I will mention this grant to my coworkers who teach this class.

  6. I found another website called digital wish. On digital wish you sign up and people donate money towards your wish list.

  8. Our school library recieved new books from target a few years ago. It was a great way for us ot create a lexile leveled library selection for our students. They are required to test over 3-6 books a year from this list, depending upon their grade level.
