I was looking on the International Reading Association web site and found this. This could be used for comprehension and vocabulary. Very cool

Here is a list of granting agencies or grant resources. These will be examined more systematically later, but you should take a look through them just to see the types of things involved and offered. This is by NO means a comprehensive list. It does give you a start though. :-)

In the next module we will be doing an activity related to grants and gaining funding for projects. Before that, let's consider your prior knowledge and questions. After reading pages 248,249, and 250 in your book, consider what, if any knowledge or experience you have have with grants and submitting grants. I do not have expectations in any way for your experiences, I want you to consider what you already know and share with us. I also want you to consider what you believe could help you in the process of learning about grant writing.

If the pages I provided don't work for you, go to chapter 14 under 'Writing Successful Grant Proposals'.

This set of websites provides information specifically related to literacy and literacy education. Members get more information from the IRA site, but read, write, think is open for all. The Indiana State Reading Association provides information for non-members and members. The Ohio Council of the International Reading Association provides resources for Ohio Teachers as does the Illinois Reading Council.

You are not required to make a response to a post this week, and there will not be a new post. I will be posting links and information this week, however, that are available for you to examine. You do not have respond to them, unless you would like to.

For the week of June 11

While you are working on creating your own professional development experience, you are also reading chapters 11 and 12 about professional developing and guiding change and learning. I have also included in Module 3 the Indiana guidelines for professional development points, as a reference and since teachers who graduate after 1984 have to renew their licenses.  Keeping all of this in mind, what do you believe makes for a positive and beneficial professional development experience.
